Hazrat Imam Jaffar Sadiq a.s Said:

  • 1. The Saint is one whose body is with creation while his heart is with God. If his heart becomes heedless of God’s remembrance even for the blink of an eye, he perishes in longing for Him. The saint is the trustee of God’s trusts, the keeper of His hidden secrets, the ear of His light, and the evidence of His mercy upon His creatures, the scale of His knowledge and His justice and grace. He is independent of the world and its inhabitants. He has no comforter other than God, and his speech, gesture, and breath are not with anyone except with God. He is with God, from God, and for God. He continues to roam in the gardens of His sanctity, benefiting from His grace, and knowledge is his essence and faith his branch.

  • 2. Hazrat Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him), while advising his son Ismail, said, “O my son! Strive to acquire the knowledge of the esoteric, for there are numerous blessings in the inner knowledge that cannot be attained through mere imagination and conjecture! O my son! Whoever acquires outward knowledge and neglects the inner knowledge will perish and will never attain true felicity! O my son! If you desire that Allah bestow upon you honour and spiritual gifts through the esoteric knowledge, then it is incumbent upon you to develop aversion and disdain for the world! Then, recognize the service of righteous people, and prepare yourself for the Hereafter! When these three qualities are combined, Allah will honour you through the esoteric knowledge.”
  • 3. “O Abu Abdullah! Seeking and imparting true knowledge does not limited by teaching or learning. In reality, knowledge is a light that is bestowed upon the heart and soul by Allah to whom He intends to guide.

  • 4. I hold the belief in the guardianship of Amir ul Mominin (peace be upon him) dearer to me than being among his descendants.

  • 5. Allah has established our guardianship in the Quran and all heavenly books. The decisive verses of the Quran revolve around this central theme, leading to the elevation in heavenly books and the manifestation of faith.
  • 6. Imam Hussain (peace be upon him) gathered his companions and said: “God has created His servants so they may recognize Him. Once they recognize Him, they worship Him. And when they worship Him, they abandon the worship of others.” Someone asked about the meaning of recognizing God and the medium for it. Imam a.s replied: “Every era’s person should obtain recognition of the Imam of that time, obedience to whom has been made obligatory, and through him, gain recognition of the Creator.”

  • 7. Imam Sadiq (peace be upon him) explained the verse “And whoever is given wisdom has certainly been given much good” by saying: “By wisdom, it means the service and recognition of the Imam.
